How is Our Approach Different?

Building a Safety Culture Starts with a Psychologically Safe Environment.

We know that a strong Occupational Health and Safety program requires a visible commitment from the leadership team and we will dedicate time to working with the management on building the soft skills of leadership to improve and increase engagement while building trust within your Teams.  Asking the right questions, and being willing to take the time to listen to the answers will provide a very clear picture of your Programs.

The key to a strong culture of safety, however, isn’t compliance, policies, meetings and documents.

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Hierarchy of Controls

The Key is Balance.

The key is to build a psychologically safe environment where all team members are empowered and educated to report, respond and react.

When the Team is provided with the training, resources and support they need to succeed, when their concerns are listened to and addressed, when their safety is recognized as the main priority you will benefit financially while reducing turnover, improving morale and becoming THE place to work.

We all strive to move up through Maslow’s Hierarchy and be our best selves while living our best lives.  Providing a safe work environment to your most critical contributors allows them to grow themselves while they work with you.  REC works directly with your front line teams to address their concerns head on and build their self-esteem and confidence through the knowledge that their employers will listen to, respect and address any concerns related to their health and wellbeing.

Becoming attune to the stages of the Hierarchy allows us to listen more closely to the staff.  They rely on their employer to allow them to meet their physiological needs and it’s OUR responsibility to help them meet their safety and security needs.  WorkSafeBC focuses on compliancy which is vital for the protection of your team. REC will help you exceed those compliancy pieces while balancing individual needs with those of the Hierarchy of Controls, which teaches us how to eliminate and/or control the hazards in your workplace.

REC will work with you on changing your team’s behaviour by balancing their psychological needs with those of the required safety program.
