Certificate of Recognition Audit

The Certificate of Recognition (COR) is a reward for employers who are fully committed to the Health, Safety and Psychological Wellbeing of their Team.  The COR allows employers an opportunity to be recognized and rewarded for their efforts in building a program that proactively addresses the hazards and risks in the environment.  Inviting an auditor into your work environment allows for an unbiased eye to assess your health and safety program management and is an invaluable tool when it comes to reducing injuries, incidents, and near misses in the workplace, and improving workplace safety culture.

Benefits of the COR Include:

As per the BC Municipal Safety Association (BCMSA), “by promoting health and safety excellence as part of a nationwide network, your organization demonstrates that you have an active health and safety management system”.

  • “Besides being a requirement for earning an annual incentive payment from WorkSafeBC, the COR certificate is recognized and respected by industries throughout Canada.

  • A proven means to reduce injuries and accidents and to always protect the health and safety of all workers at all times.”

There are other benefits to achieving the COR:

  • Build trust in your Safety Culture by visibly demonstrating your commitment to the Health and Safety Program during your preparation.

  • The COR incentive allows you to get a return on your investment into your Health and Safety Program.  Building a strong OH&S Program takes time, and as we know, time = money.  The incentive allows the employer to be reimbursed for the time spent to build a strong, compliant and psychologically safe workplace.

  • Worker injuries (and costs!) will decrease organically as hazards are mitigated throughout the growth of the Health and Safety Program.

Achieving your COR

Why getting your Certificate of Recognition is both easier and more beneficial than you think.

As REC develops your Health and Safety program the Certificate of Recognition preparation begins. We’ll spend as much time as needed with you and your team reviewing, revising and collaborating on policies and safe work procedures to ensure that they are effective, efficient and reduce the hazards to their lowest possible risk.

Collaboration is key in the success of the COR Audit, and what sets us apart from our competitors. Including the entire team in the development and implementation of the Health and Safety program guarantees not only understanding of the program but also encourages and builds the Safety Culture as the front line team sees the changes being implemented that they have recommended. REC knows when and how to listen and subscribes to the principle of “You can’t grow, if you don’t know”.

The interviews are worth a high proportion of the scoring on the COR Audit and can make or break your result. Working with your team ensures their support and buy-in as REC empowers them and provides them a voice in their Health and Safety Program, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the programs in place.
