17 years in Hospitality: Susan grew up in Hospitality, starting out flipping burgers in the mall at 14.  As her first passion, she actively pursued supervisory and management roles, working to make improvements to the overall workplaces, particularly where there were no safety protocols in place.  While the focus was always guest service, Susan worked to ensure that the staff morale was high which encouraged higher levels of guest engagement and satisfaction.

14 years in Healthcare: Boasting a wealth of experience, Susan has been at the forefront of the health and safety landscape in the Healthcare Community since 2007.

7 years as a Certified COR Auditor:  Building a WorkSafeBC and COR Compliant Occupational Health and Safety was never easy, but it was tremendously fulfilling.  Passing the Audit for the first time in 2016 with 91% for two companies simultaneously was a huge achievement, considering she self-educated and learned through trial and error.

Starting her External Audits in 2023, she jumped straight into auditing Municipalities, finding that her existing skills of Recognizing, Evaluating and Controlling hazards were applicable to all industries and equipment found at worksites.

5 years in Education: Susan worked in Adult Education prior to making the decision to switch industries and solely focusing on Occupational Health and Safety in Healthcare. The role of instructor taught the skills of developing effective and engaging materials and resources to not only communicate the information but to also develop quantitative tools to provide effective feedback.

As an OH&S Professional, Susan has had the opportunity to develop an OH&S Program for Private K – 12 Education Schools that addressed Reporting of Incidents, Near Misses, Hazards and Injuries as well as Inspections, Investigations and JHS Committee Effectiveness.
